The Fiat Strada has arrived
FIAT, 29/4/1999 - The array of Fiat commercial vehicles currently extends from the pint-sized Panda Van to the Ducato Maxi. Now the range has been expanded to include a pick-up produced in Brazil. The vehicle will be sold in four European countries: Italy, Germany, Portugal and Greece, as from May. Its name is the Fiat Strada and it comes in two versions (a 75 with 1.2 MPI petrol engine and a TD 70 with 1.7 turbodiesel engine). It is the second model in Fiat's world car family to forge a niche in the sophisticated west European markets.
A solid, sturdy vehicle with a load capacity of 705 kg, the Fiat Strada will enter a market band that amounts to 87,000 vehicles in Europe and almost 7,000 in Italy.

The Fiat Strada is built in Brazil (it has been on sale there since last October): car-derived pick-ups have always met with great success in this country and these vehicles are also considered ideal for leisure use.

The vehicle is fitted as standard with an FPS Fire Prevention System, seat-belt pretensioners, energy-absorbing steering wheel, and the Fiat CODE antitheft device. Driver and passenger airbags and a climate control system are available as options. All Fiat Stradas come with a headlight alignment corrector, height-adjustable steering wheel, door mirrors adjustable from the passenger compartment and power steering (standard on turbodiesel versions). Both Fiat Strada engines ensure excellent performance laden and unladen. The 54 kW (73 bhp) 1242 cc petrol engine fitted to the Fiat Strada 75 takes the pick-up to a top speed of 157km/h (155 fully laden), while the 1698 cc engine on the Fiat Strada TD 70 delivers 51 kW (69 bhp) and powers the model to a top speed of 153 km/h (151 fully laden).

Audi switches to individual share certificates / Conversion at a ratio of 1 to 10 / Capital stock to be denominated in Euro
Ingolstadt, 29 Apr 1999 - AUDI AG intends to convert its par-value shares into individual share certificates (shares with no par value) at a ratio of 1 to 10. At the same time, the capital stock is to be denominated in Euro. The Annual General Meeting of AUDI AG on June 24, 1999 will vote on these measures.

The changeover from par-value shares to individual share certificates at a ratio of 1 to 10 means that one share with a par value of DM 50 will be replaced by ten individual share certificates (par value of DM 100: 20 individual share certificates; par value of DM 1,000: 200 individual share certificates). This switch applies to all Audi shares, irrespective of whether they are held in deposit at banks or are in the safekeeping of shareholders. AUDI AG's capital stock will simultaneously be denominated in Euro. As the conversion of the fictitious par value of the shares will not produce a round figure, it will be rounded up to the nearest whole cent (EUR 2.56). It will consequently be necessary to raise the capital stock by EUR 152,245.54 (DM 297,766.39). This will be performed by converting other profit reserves into capital stock without new shares being issued.
