BMW at NAIAS 2003

|
With the
xActivity BMW will present at the North American International Auto
Show 2003 in Detroit an impressive vehicle concept that bears a name
giving an apt description of what it has to offer. The Sports Activity
Vehicle (SAV) is an example of how sporty driving dynamics, enormous
versatility and the inimitable pleasure of driving an open-top vehicle
can be combined into one. This four-wheel vehicle, a so-called
"frame-structure convertible" represents a completely new
synthesis of various "fun factors". Moreover, numerous
cleverly thought-out details make the xActivity a versatile vehicle
and an ideal companion for active people who participate in outdoor
activities and carry sports equipment around with them. |
The
BMW 3 Series Coupé and the BMW 3 Series Convertible in the 2003 Model
Year. (World Debuts) |

|
Entering the new year, it is an old tradition for the car industry to
start the series of major international motor shows in Detroit, Michigan,
taking place this year from 11-20 January. BMW is opening the year 2003 with
the world debut of the 3 Series convertible and the 3 Series coupé.
The BMW 3 Series coupé: Making an athletic appearance in a new look. The
design of the 3 Series coupé in the market since 1999 has now been modified
very discreetly but with a powerful effect: Without making the former model
look old even in a direct comparison, the new coupé emphasizes its sporting
and dynamic appearance, at the same time standing out even more clearly from
the 3 Series saloon.

straight-six power unit and six-speed manual gearbox, and as the Z4
2.5i featuring a 141 kW/192 bhp straight-six combined with a
five-speed manual gearbox. Both models will be entering the US market
in autumn 2002, arriving in Europe in spring 2003.

BMW
Alpina Roadster V8 |
 |
This new
edition of BMW's contemporary classic roadster is sure to raise
eyebrows. A Z8 with an automatic transmission, not powered by the BMW
M engine, but rather by a specially developed, higher-performance
version of a BMW's "regular" V-8 engine. A new Z8 with
20-inch wheels and tires in place of the original model's 18-inchers.
