International Motor Show 2001
.
Frankfurt, Germany
September 13  -  23, 2001

General Motors
Summary:
  • The Booth

"Versatility and dynamism" are the key characteristics of the Opel stand, in tune with the concept cars and 2002 production vehicles displayed. The focal point of the 5290-square-meter exhibition area in Hall 8 is the "VariScope", a moving, 1000-square-meter display area with the Signum2 concept car at its center. A particularly eye-catching feature is the 3.5-ton rotating LED screen installed above the VariScope for presenting live events, interviews and Signum2 videos to the crowds.

Some of the videos were filmed with a 24P camera and high-resolution digital film otherwise used only in Hollywood film productions. Another technological highlight is the auto show premiere of the "Electronic Surround Poster," an LED cylinder which surrounds the viewer with images and sound. Other Opel firsts include a PC-based real time 3D configurator for cars that will also be available on the internet, and "Litefast columns" - glass cylinders with rotating LED displays for exciting, fast paced viewing.

  • Cadillac CTS

Opel/ Vauxhall

  • Opel Signum2

The goal for the Opel team developing the 4.64-meter long Signum2 was to achieve a synthesis of good looks, comfort, convenience and versatility. The front wheel drive Signum2 combines the elegant lines of a coupé with the practicality of a station wagon and, with a number of surprising designs for the interior, underlines Opel's reputation as the leading European manufacturer of attractive, versatile vehicles.

  • Opel Combo

The new Opel Combo Tour is a versatile all-rounder with a large, practical load area and generous amounts of space for five people. Like the other two Combo variants - the delivery van and the five-seater "Combi" people carrier - the "Tour" features agile handling and low running costs.
