Martin Leach, Ford of Europe President and COO, unveiled six new products, and finished with a n sensational surprise when superstar Kylie Minogue entered the platform unveiling the Streetka, coachbuilt by Pininfarina.

Ford of Europe introduced six new products at the Paris Motor Show, bringing its tally to 32 in as many months. The record-setting pace is part of the Company's ongoing product led transformation strategy.

Ford of Europe Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, David W. Thursfield, said, "We are continuing to invest heavily in our product range, which is the strongest it has ever been. Meantime, we have reduced our costs by over $1 billion over two years, increased our plant utilization to 95 percent, and reduced our number of assembly plants in Europe from 11 to six.

Volvo:  Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept

.
At the Paris Autoshow the Volvo S60R and the V70 R were introduced. The new Volvo S60 R and V70 R are equipped with what is probably the world’s most advanced active performance chassis, with Four-C Technology (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept). The promise of the noted Volvo PCC and PCC2 concept cars has now been fulfilled by the Volvo S60 R and V70 R. No other cars can combine the uncompromising road contact of the extreme sports cars with the comfort essential in a family car, in the same way as Volvo’s R cars do.

When the driver presses the "Advanced Sport" button, the Volvo S60 R or V70 R is transformed into a pure sports car. The chassis is optimised for maximum roadholding in all situations, especially when driving on winding roads and at high speeds. In fact, it can even be used for track driving.

The DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) system can allow a higher degree of skid before the system cuts in and brakes the wheels, straightening up the car. This is obtained by pressing the "DSTC" button once. In this mode, the spin-control is also turned off.

Mazda: The Mazda2 (Demio) and Mazda6 MPS Concept

.
Mazda Motor Corporation showcased the Mazda2 (Japanese naming: Mazda Demio) at the 102nd Paris Auto Show. The Mazda2 will go into production at Ford of Europe's Valencia Plant in Spain from the beginning of 2003 as Mazda's first model produced and engineered in Europe. Mazda also exhibited a diesel version of the Mazda6 (Japanese naming: Mazda Atenza), with the newly developed MZR-CD direct injection diesel engine. The Mazda6 MPS Concept shows just what the all-new midsize could be capable of.

The Mazda6 MPS Concept, which marks another world debut for Mazda in Paris, is a high performance top-end concept model for the Mazda6 series, which was developed to show off the car's sophisticated high performance potential. Focused on even more driving pleasure, improved dynamics and enhanced stylishness and expression in exterior and interior design, the all-wheel-drive concept of a top-end Mazda6 is a contemporary proposition for an ultimate "Zoom-Zoom" machine.
