The 1007, which was unveiled
in 2002 as the « Sesame » concept
in Paris, is a compact car according to its exterior dimensions,
big inside; friendly and uplifting, robust and sporty, practical and
modular, equally at home in town and on the open road, and with an
inbuilt dynamic presence.
It was with
reference to an original sliding door concept car created by Automobiles
Peugeot that the famous Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina, a partner of
Peugeot for more than 50 years, designed the 1007.
The car's
interior is the work of Style Peugeot, which also
laid claim to the general identity of the 1007 with proposals concerning
the appearance of the front, a genuine Marque signature. Two sculpted
lines in the bonnet highlight the extended headlamps. In its central
section, the front grille supports the bumper bar, which merges into the
wings and extends to both sides of the car in the form of side mouldings.
Simply by
pressing the button on the remote plip control, the Open-Sesame door
slides rearwards without exceeding the overall length of the vehicle.
This ensures unrestricted access 920 mm across, as though no barrier
existed between the outside and the inside.
Responsible
for giving the 1007 its vitality and emphasizing its liveliness and
responsiveness in town - its preferred territory - the four power trains
also ensure an excellent performance on the open road and on motorways
and are remarkably quiet in operation.
