New Mercedes-Benz Museum competition concluded 1st prize Stuttgart - The international invitation competition concerning the design of the new Mercedes-Benz Museum - to be built just outside the factory premises in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim - is concluded. The first three places were taken by 1) UN studio ben van berkel & caroline bos - Amsterdam, 2) Sejima + Nishizawa / SANAA - Tokyo and 3) Angélil Graham Pfenninger Scholl - Zurich, Los Angeles. 2nd prize Ten architects - five from Germany and one each from the USA, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands and Switzerland - participated in the invitation competition. Their task was to develop design concepts for the construction of a new Mercedes-Benz Museum including urban development and traffic plans for the museum's location in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim. 3rd prize Photos: DaimlerChrysler Professor Jürgen Hubbert, member of the DaimlerChrysler Board of Management with responsibility for the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car and smart Division: "The new Mercedes-Benz Museum will not house an exhibition in the conventional sense but will become our Heritage Center where we will actively communicate the tradition and origins of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The selected designs reflect very different ways in which this aim can be reached impressively." The Board of Management will make a decision on the construction of a new museum on the basis of the competition results now available.
