World Debut Of Aston Martin V12 Vanquish - Dealers predict three year waiting list
Since preliminary details of the new model were released in October of last year interest from prospective customers has been running at record levels and Aston Martin dealers are predicting a three year waiting list when sales begin in early summer.
With a maximum speed close to 200 mph the V12 Vanquish is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 460 horsepower Aston Martin engine. The six speed transmission is controlled through a Formula I style paddle gear change which permits gear changes to be completed in 250 milliseconds - less than the blink of an eye.
The new model employs space-age construction techniques including the extensive use of extruded aluminium, carbon fibre and composite materials. It will accelerate to 60 mph in under 5 seconds and 100 mph in less than 10 seconds. (FEBRUARY 16, 2001)
