The unveiling of the stunning two-seater drew enormous crowds at the Geneva Motor Show and has since has been highly acclaimed by the world's press, public and motor industry alike. Unusually for a show car, the Aero 8 was driven onto the stand by its Engineering Director Chris Lawrence and, say Morgan, is definitely not a concept. The new car will go into production at Morgan's Malvern factory in July of this year and production is expected to be 200 cars per year.
Described by some as the motor industry's best kept secret for decades, the Aero 8's fabulous new shape was kept strictly under wraps until 4.00pm on press day when it was unveiled by Charles Morgan's two daughters, Harriet and Kate, aged eight and six. Pictures of the launch were broadcast live over the internet and in the 24 hours following the launch Morgan's website received more than 100,000 hits. Orders have been quick to follow and the first year's production has already been sold.
Also taking part in the launch ceremony were Michael Urbschatt, Vice-President of BMW's powertrain division, Guenter Ranzinger, Senior Project Engineer at BMW, and BMW's Senior Project Manager Manfred Christian, who have all worked closely with Morgan in the development of the Aero 8.
