The Audi Avantissimo Concept Introduction

At the 2001 International Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany (the ‘IAA’), Audi introduced the Avantissimo concept study. This is a vision of Audi – a high-performance Avant for the luxury car class.

Mr. Paefgen, CEO of Audi AG, briefly announced the new concept car. Dr. Mischke, head of Audi's product development  introduced the concept in detail.

A lightweight aluminium body, based on a systematic development of the Audi Space Frame (ASF), makes another contribution to the Avantissimo's exceptional dynamics. As a pioneer of aluminium passenger-car construction, Audi has succeeded in optimising the combination of low weight and maximum torsional rigidity even further. This benefits the car in two ways: ASF means an optimum power-to-weight ratio and therefore brilliant acceleration.

Before the show started, Mr. Paefgen passed a small talk excercise with Dr. Piech and his spouse.
