FORD Names Mazzorin, Parry-Jones To New Roles; Wallace To Retire

DEARBORN, Mich. – Ford Motor Company announced the appointment of Carlos Mazzorin, 60, to the new position of group vice president, Asia Pacific Operations, South American Operations and Global Purchasing.

Richard Parry-Jones, 50, group vice president, Product Development, and chief technical officer, additionally takes over responsibility for Mazda Motor Corp. from Henry Wallace. Mark Fields continues as president of Mazda. The new assignments are effective immediately.

Wallace, 56, group vice president, Mazda and Ford Asia Pacific, will retire after 30 years with the company. His retirement is effective Jan. 1, 2002.

Wallace joined Ford in 1971 in Britain. His Ford leadership positions included Chief Financial Officer for the company. He has also held financial management assignments in Mexico, Europe and the United States. He also served as president of Ford of Venezuela and Mazda.

In his new position, Mazzorin is responsible for leading the business strategy and operations of the company's Asia Pacific market. He will continue to lead South American operations and the global purchasing function.

Mazzorin joined Ford in 1972 and has served in a variety of purchasing and procurement positions of increasing responsibility, including posts in Brazil and Spain. He has led Ford of Mexico and is credited with creating a partnership with Ford suppliers by establishing The Total Cost Management center, where suppliers receive extensive training in lean manufacturing and Ford business strategies.

Parry-Jones heads Ford's largest engineering organization, with a technical staff of engineers, scientists, designers and business professionals. He joined Ford in 1973 and has held a number of product development positions around the world of increasing responsibilities.
