New York - True to company tradition, Chrysler is taking yet another concept vehicle to reality. Today Chrysler revealed the production version of its all-new segment-busting 2004 Chrysler Pacifica at the New York International Auto Show. Chrysler Pacifica, which represents a new vehicle segment called "sports tourer," will go on sale in the spring of 2003 as a 2004 model.

"As promised, the production version of the Chrysler Pacifica remains true to the concept that we revealed earlier this year, a concept that generated tremendous consumer interest," said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group. "There is no other vehicle like Pacifica in the marketplace. With its low step-in height, first-class seating, three rows of seats, and car-like handling, there's no question that the Chrysler Pacifica will redefine the large vehicle market segment in much the same way that Chrysler PT Cruiser revolutionized the small vehicle market."

"This is a drop-dead gorgeous six-passenger vehicle that people are going to fall in love with," said Jim Schroer, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. "Cleverly packaged with step-across entry and exit, first-class seating, an in-instrument cluster navigation system, hands-free communication and a power liftgate, Chrysler Pacifica sets a new standard and offers a fresh alternative in the luxury vehicle market."

2004 Chrysler Pacifica Production

Production of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will begin in early 2003 at Chrysler Group's Windsor Assembly Plant. While Pacifica will be built in the same plant as Chrysler and Dodge minivans, the vehicle will not be built on any one of the company's short- or long-wheelbase minivan platforms. Pacifica will be built on its own new, unique platform, but will use existing corporate components, including the same proven 3.5-liter V6 engine that powers the award-winning Chrysler 300M.

2004 Chrysler Pacifica Preliminary Specifications:

Dimensions:

  • Wheelbase: 116.3 inches
  • Overall length: 198.9 inches
  • Overall width (max): 79.3 inches
  • Overall height: 66.5 inches

  • Rear overhang: 42.5 inches
  • Front track: 66.0 inches
  • Rear track: 66.0 inches
