March sales figures for Porsche in North America show an overall decline

US Demand for 911 Model Line Remains Strong

Stuttgart - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, shipped a total of 1,860 units of its 911 and Boxster models to customers in North America in March. This represents a decrease of 18 percent compared with the same month last year, when 2,272 units were sold.

Although sales of the Boxster fell by 32 percent compared with the same month last year with 842 units sold, sales of 911 models nearly remained at the previous year's high level with 1,018 units (minus 1.5 percent). Exceeded only by the year 2001, this is the second-highest March result ever achieved by the 911 in North America. The market launch of the GT2, Carrera 4S and Targa in USA and Canada on the 8th of February will lead to a further shift in the model mix toward the higher-value vehicles. Porsche therefore anticipates a good economic result for the North American market at the end of the business year, despite a lower total number of units sold.

Furthermore, the sports car manufacturer can largely offset the decline in sales in North America by higher sales figures elsewhere, particularly on the major European markets. For instance, deliveries to customers in Germany (the second-most important market for Porsche after North America) increased by 28 percent in January and 35 percent in February in comparison to the respective months last year.
