Toyota Announces Strong February Sales
 

Torrance, CA - Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., reported February sales of 124,683, a decrease of 1.1 percent from the same period last year.

The Toyota Division reported stable February sales of 109,363, down 0.1 percent from the same period last year. The Toyota Corolla posted strong February sales with 23,219 units sold, up 58.5 percent. The popularity of the Prius electric-gas hybrid sedan continues to grow, recording its best-ever sales month with 1,968 units sold, an increase of 32.9 percent. The restyled ECHO subcompact sedan enjoyed strong sales of 2,819, up 20.4 percent.

TMS light truck sales recorded best-ever February sales with 55,318 units sold, up 3.3 percent. The Toyota Division posted light truck sales of 47,970, up 0.6 percent. The Highlander mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) posted best-ever February sales of 8,298, an increase of 7.9 percent. Sales of the all-new, fourth-generation 4Runner were up 44.1 percent, at 6,913 units sold. Tacoma compact pickup sales chipped in with sales of 11,278, an increase of 1.8 percent. The Land Cruiser full-size SUV recorded 401 total sales for February, up 0.5 percent.

 

Lexus light trucks recorded 7,348 sales, an increase of 25.3 percent over the same period last year. The all-new GX 470 luxury utility vehicle posted strong sales of 1,983 units.

Sales of North American-built vehicles accounted for 59.1 percent of total February sales.
