Nissan Names Two New Vice Presidents

Jan Thompson Joins as Marketing VP; John Miller is VP, Purchasing Strategy

GARDENA, CA - Nissan North America, Inc., (NNA) announced the appointments of two new vice presidents for marketing and purchasing strategy operations in North America.

Jan Thompson, currently president and CEO of The Designory, Inc., a marketing communications company owned by the Omnicom Group, will become vice president, marketing, NNA. John Miller, who held purchasing positions at Motorola Corp. and Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., has been named vice president, purchasing strategy, NNA.

Before heading The Designory for five years, Thompson held senior management positions at the Callaway Golf Co. and Wilson Sporting Goods. She began her career at Chrysler Corp., where she held a series of field sales positions. Later, she was national marketing manager for Lexus Division of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., and vice president of marketing and vice president of sales operations at Mazda Motor of America.

Thompson succeeds Steve Wilhite, who will become vice president, global marketing for Nissan effective July 1. She will report to Jed Connelly, senior vice president, sales and marketing.

"Jan brings a wealth of automotive and non-automotive knowledge to this critical position as we focus on keeping the momentum we've built in the past and growing globally in the future," Connelly said.

Miller will be initially located at Nissan's Smyrna, Tenn., assembly plant. After spending several months there, Miller will be reassigned to Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Japan where he will work in the headquarters' Purchasing Strategy Department. Miller is expected to return to the United States in late 2005.

In 2000, Miller joined Motorola as corporate vice president and director, purchasing, in the company's personal communications sector. For 17 years before that, Miller worked for Honda in Ohio in purchasing, eventually becoming plant manager of the motorcycle plant and assistant vice president.

Miller is filling a newly created position. While at NNA, he will work with Toshiaki Otani, vice president, purchasing, NNA.
