The Mariner concept is built for a rollicking night out in the city and is the perfect compliment to the urban dweller who values the sleek, suave, and thoroughly sophisticated. With a look that is slightly edgy and aggressive compared to the base model, the Mariner "Urban Edition" will help turn heads with its sleek, sophisticated touches.
"SEMA is the perfect opportunity to leverage new design and feature ideas and receive feedback from the industry and consumers alike," said John Fitzpatrick, Lincoln Mercury General Marketing Manager. "Every year, we find an idea or two that is strong enough to move from the SEMA show floor to the production line."
This year's "Urban Edition" Mariner's exterior is highlighted with a custom mixed Charcoal Gray silver fleck paint job and adds Spinelle™ Metal Finish grille, beauty bars, tail lamps, surrounds, and wheels to give the appearance of black chrome. The windshield shade has a special "City Scape" theme and Mercury logo side door glass.
The outside appearance of the vehicle was completed by adding a chrome exhaust tip and fog lights in addition to bonspeed "Intense" 18-inch forged alloy custom finished wheels mounted with Pirelli 255/55R18 - Scorpion STR tires for the ultimate look.
The vehicle's interior features neon blue floor lighting, snow jaguar print custom upholstered heated seats and door inserts, Mach Audiophile 6-CD changer with Satellite Radio capability and a 10" Dockable Family Entertainment System™ with a Base Audio Sensation™ system outfitted to the chassis.
"The 2005 Mercury Mariner "Urban Edition" gave us on opportunity to put premium into the hot compact SUV market and add an edgy twist" said Laura Soave Stoppa, Mercury Mariner Marketing Manager. "We were excited to customize a Mercury vehicle like this and see what reactions we would get".
The "Urban Edition" concept is based on the all-new 2005 Mercury Mariner sport utility that introduces modern Mercury design, refined driving dynamics and unique product features in a small, fuel-efficient SUV designed to attract new customers to Mercury showrooms. Building on the style and success of the Mountaineer, Mariner brings contemporary Mercury design to customers who are looking for a compact, urban SUV.
The Mariner will be the entry-level sport utility in the Lincoln Mercury showroom, which features a comprehensive lineup of upscale and luxury SUVs including the Mercury Mountaineer, Lincoln Aviator and the full-size Navigator.
The all-new 2005 Mercury Mariner will be produced at the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake and will go on sale in late 2004.
