Subaru of America: US Sales 2005

Subaru Sets All-Time Sales Record for Third Consecutive Year

Best-ever December sales drive year-end total up 5% over last year, popularity of brand continues to grow with success of new B9 Tribeca

Subaru of America, Inc., announced that for the third consecutive year, the company recorded an all-time sales record, selling a total of 196,002 units in 2005. Subaru also recorded best-ever sales in December that drove the year-end total up five percent from the previous year.

"The success of the new Subaru B9 Tribeca lead the way for us to achieve another all-time company sales record in 2005," said Fred D. Adcock, executive vice president, Subaru of America, Inc. "We'd like to thank our dealers for their outstanding efforts that enabled us to broaden the appeal and attract new customers to the Subaru brand. We're pleased with this success and look forward to another strong and prosperous year in 2006."

The Subaru B9 Tribeca posted incremental volume totaling 14,797 units in 2005. Subaru Legacy recorded sales of 87,788 units, with Legacy Sedan sales up 14 percent for the year. Subaru Outback recorded a total of 59,570 units, while Subaru Forester posted sales of 53,541 units in 2005. Subaru Impreza posted a gain of four percent with 33,637 total units for the year, while Subaru Baja recorded 6,239 units.

Subaru also recorded its best-ever December in 2005, with total sales of 19,919 units, up 3 percent from December 2004. Subaru B9 Tribeca posted 2,730 units for the month. Subaru Forester recorded 5,206 units. Subaru Legacy recorded with unit sales of 8,377, while the Outback accounted for 5,883 units for the month. Subaru Impreza recorded a strong gain for the month up 15 percent with 3,165 units, while Baja posted 441 units for the month.
