Paris - PSA Peugeot Citroën
will begin producing the Peugeot 307 at its Buenos Aires plant in 2004,
marking the introduction of its new mid-range platform in Argentina. The
project, involving a total investment of €50 million, will enable from
the first year to build 16,000 Peugeot 307s, of which 60% will be exported
to other Latin American countries.
The investment decision
confirms PSA Peugeot Citroën's long-term strategy in Latin America, as
well as its commitment to sustaining its business despite the difficult
economic environment. In 2002, the Buenos Aires plant produced 17,800
vehicles, including the Peugeot 206, Peugeot Partner and Citroën Berlingo.
The site currently employs 1,560 people.
