Smith brings more than 15 years of experience in the automotive industry with both Toyota and Volkswagen to his position at Kia and will report directly to Walter Anderson, vice president, marketing, at KMA.

"Tom brings to Kia both a depth and breadth of experience in strategic planning, advertising and brand development that will help us meet the ambitious goals we've set for ourselves in the U.S.," said Walter Anderson, vice president, marketing, Kia Motors America, Inc. "We're looking forward to harnessing Tom's experience and high energy as we continue to build brand awareness for this young company in the American market."

Prior to joining Kia, Smith spent 12 years with Toyota Motor Corporation, beginning with five years in Tokyo working in a variety of international positions including sales planning, market research, regional advertising and more.
