Detroit, Mich. USA - USA Today readers chose the 2000 Cadillac Imaj as
the recipient of its annual Consumer's Choice award, announced at the
Automotive News International Concept Car of the Year Awards in Paris
during the auto show.
The nation's No. 1 newspaper asked readers to choose their favorite
concept car from a list of finalists for the Automotive News
International concept car of the year award. More than 10,000 people
voted, more than 8,000 of whom did so online.
The victorious Cadillac Imaj, a high-tech concept car revealed at the
2000 Geneva Auto Show, extends Cadillac's philosophy of blending art and
science to its logical next step: an all-wheel-drive ultra-luxury sedan
with exhilarating performance and unprecedented technological
applications.
The public's recognition and praise of this vehicle indicates
Cadillac is moving in the right direction with its new design form
vocabulary of crisp lines and sharp angles, reflected most prominently
in the recently announced new two-seat Cadillac luxury roadster
scheduled for production in 2003.
The Cadillac Imaj also received honors from Automotive News
International judges for the vehicle's interior.
In addition, Cadillac won an Automotive World Safety Award for its
Night Vision driver enhancement system. The award, given at a ceremony
prior to the Paris Auto Show recognizes Cadillac's achievements in
improving safety for drivers, pedestrians and other road-users through
the world's first automotive application of infrared and thermal imaging
technologies. Cadillac Night Vision was introduced on the 2000 DeVille
and has also been announced for the 2003 luxury roadster production car.
