: Snakes Alive! Vegas a Viper Pit for Owners Invitational |
An uncommon car may be the only thing that owners of the Dodge
Viper have in common. But they've come together for the ultimate rally, the Viper Owners
Invitational, celebrating the ultimate American sports car, the Dodge Viper. A stroll
of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway infield grounds, which this week hosts the owners of more
than 800 Vipers as part of the Fifth Viper Owners Invitational (VOI 5), reveals a diverse
mix of personalities and stories. |

However, they have a shared passion: America's
most powerful sportscar, the Dodge Viper. VOI 5, affectionately called "Viva Las
Viper" by its corporate host, DaimlerChryslers Dodge Division, is scheduled for
April 22-26, 1999 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The event has been sold out since last October, testimony to the intense owner loyalty and
enjoyment generated by the Viper. Among those sharing their passion are members who have
gone so far as to plan their weddings around the Viper Owners Invitational. One of
several, James Retych, will be exchanging vows at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 at the
Imperial Palace's "We've Only Just Begun" Wedding Chapel. |

is one of the most outstanding historical automobile events of its kind in Europe. |
 BMW
DIXI |
To maintain the high standard of the
"Concorso dŽEleganza", BMW has decided to take over the patronage of the next
triennium and to play a leading role in optimising the events and their programme. BMW
Mobile Tradition will be supporting the event. The event will start on Saturday morning,
April 24th, when the participants of the "Concorso" will drive from Villa
dŽEste to the Villa Olmo public park near Como. This is where the cars built between 1910
and 1932 will be presented to the public. On Sunday there will be an exclusive show for
invited guests only on the grounds of the Hotel Villa dŽEste where the cars will be
presented to and assessed by the jury and guests of the hotel. A Gala Dinner with prizes
awarded to the most spectacular cars will conclude this impressive society event as the
final highlight. |

Renault
Aims to Cut Delivery Times to Two Weeks by 2001 Through Reorganization of its Distribution
System
|
Paris, April 16, 1999 -- Renault is undertaking, in the
framework of a company-wide project, a complete reform of its distribution system in
Europe, to achieve an average waiting time of two weeks between placing an order and
taking delivery of a vehicle, by the year 2001. The New Distribution system will replace
the present system of commercial commitment with an organization based on actual orders
entirely focused on the final customer. In this new distribution plan, the dealer network
will transmit to the factories, directly and daily, orders placed by customers. The
plants, which will receive this order information immediately, will position the
manufacture of vehicles by five-day production sequences. The New Distribution system, by
manufacturing the exact car the customer wants, will also result in better marketing of
the full diversity of the product line and reductions in the costs of commercial
negotiations, while cutting inventories by half. Renault thus intends to become the most
competitive car maker in terms of delivery times, a decisive factor in customer
satisfaction. |
