Porsche sales decline in North America

Stuttgart sports car manufacturer also affected by impact of the economic crisis

Stuttgart - In October, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, delivered 1,541 vehicles in North America; of these, 1,427 went to customers in the USA and 114 to Canada. This represents a decrease of 39 percent compared to October last year, and demonstrates that not even Porsche can escape the impacts of the economic crisis and the decline of demand in all business areas.

An additional factor in this decrease is the model changeover in the 911 series. As the new all-wheel drive versions of the Carrera and the Targa have only been available on the North American market since October 25, the ‘Eleven’ series, with 611 vehicles delivered, showed a decrease of 40 percent compared to the same month in the previous year.

In North America, 766 vehicles from the Cayenne series were delivered altogether in October – 39 percent less that in the corresponding period in 2007. At least deliveries of the six-cylinder version, the Cayenne V6, were up again compared to last month, climbing by sixteen percent. 164 automobiles from the Boxster series were delivered, representing a reduction of 78 percent.
