Toyota´s new vice chairman has fulfilled decisive roles in honing the
legendary efficiencies of the Toyota Production System and in globalizing
the company's manufacturing. He headed Toyota´s vehicle-manufacturing
subsidiary in Kentucky for six years in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
