Toyota : The Mega Web Theme Park in Tokyo
Mega Web is intended to stimulate interest in automobiles by showing the excitement of owning a car through actual experience. The facilities comprise three pavilions based on the themes of "past, present, and future" and two riding courses. In addition to exhibits of TMC's entire vehicle lineup and historical cars, the facilities also allow visitors to "see, touch, and ride" through test rides on the courses, virtual drives, ride attractions, and a driving school. The overview of the pavilions and the driving courses are as follows.
Reference Details of the Pavilions Toyota City Showcase This pavilion takes as its theme the "present" of automobiles. It will always exhibit slightly more than 100 units, consisting of TMC's entire vehicle lineup, as well as welfare-oriented vehicles and motor show display models. A virtual drive corner will allow visitors to experience the fun of cars as well as safe driving.
History Garage This pavilion takes as its theme the "past" of automobiles. An exhibition of about 30 units, mainly from the 1960s when motorization took off, combined with a cafe/restaurant. Visitors can discuss the cars and culture of past times while viewing street corners from around the world and an Italian-style plaza.
Future World This pavilion takes as its theme the "future" of automobiles. Visitors can enjoy the thrill of a roller coaster while taking a virtual drive through a city of the future. The pavilion will also include an exhibition zone that introduces TMCÕs image of ITS in the near future through "Magic Vision" and other means.
Ride One This is a driving course that will allow visitors to experience a test run of TMC vehicles through Palette Town. Visitors can enjoy a drive over cobblestone roads with a rock-pattern decor. Safe Driving Clinics (tentative name) will be held to allow safe enjoyment of cars. The clinics will be characterized by curricula designed to meet the specific needs of each participant. TMC training vehicles will be provided for each class.
E-com Ride This course allows visitors to ride an e-com, a two-person electric commuter vehicle, between the pavilions. Visitors will experience the utility of the e-com electric vehicle, making full use of its features as an electric vehicle, while riding between the city showcases.
