Ford 021C Concept Car
MILAN, Italy, 11 April 2000 - Ford Motor Company travels an all-new road this week, becoming the world's first automaker to showcase a car at the International Furniture Fair in Milan. The Ford O21C, newly tinted in lime green for its first European showing, is a unique car that has become a cultural icon from Tokyo to Detroit in its six months of public life.

Created by Marc Newson, the Ford O21C boasts a simple functional design with a light-hearted flair that doesn't allow admirers to take it too seriously. "Ask children to draw a car, and they'll likely create something like the O21C," Newson says. "This car doesn't use many typical automotive design cues, but it features elements of design that are both comfortable and familiar. That's why so many people identify with this car." Dramatic forms, vibrant colors and finely styled details - both inside and out - lend Ford O21C tremendous personality and send the message that this vehicle has been driven by passion for design excellence. The interiors have been designed by Newson and produced by B&B ITALIA, and PRADA created a special set of luggage in orange patent leather, a tribute to the car's original eye-popping hue. Ford O21C and its custom-made accessories are at home in the world's fashion capital and will be on display all week at the Furniture Fair's Area Fendi, in cooperation with the leading fashion house.
