BMW webTV for IAA BMW Group provides impressions of the motor show live online Munich - The IAA starts a little earlier on the Internet - at least, it does on the BMW website www.bmw.com/iaa2001. The site will be providing preliminary information about the Frankfurt motor show from the beginning of September. But the highlights will only be appearing at the start of the show, even on the Internet. The automobile manufacturer will be presenting webTV for the first time on its Internet site - with live transmissions straight from its exhibition stand. The webTV programme is made up of various different formats: in addition to video chat, there will also be news shows presenting BMW's innovations at the IAA. A number of topics will be discussed in greater detail in talk shows. Finally, the company's own camera team will be gathering impressions of the motor show, which will be broadcast in the form of interviews or product presentations. All the contributions can also be called up "on demand". In addition, a virtual tour of the exhibition stand will also be offered. On the three-dimensional "Panorama Tour", users will be able to move around and see the stand from various viewpoints, so that they have an overall view whilst also being able to zoom in to details. The only requirements for accessing webTV are a web browser and a video player such as Realplayer or Windows Mediaplayer in various bandwidths. BMW webTV, which also covers other topics is available on the Group's homepage www.bmwgroup.com/iaa2001. This web site includes other innovative elements provided by the BMW Group including a video live chat facility (www.bmwgroup.com/livechat). So far, there have been chats with experts on the subjects of Clean Energy and Formula 1 - with Ralf Schumacher answering users' questions on the latter occasion. The recordings of these video chats can be accessed on the web page. Other discussion partners in the Live Chat Lab are Alex Ceijka, talking about the BMW International Open on 30 August, and Development Director Dr. Burkhard Göschel on 4 October talking about the MINI Cooper S. BMW webTV and the video live chats are realised by the Internet broadcaster TV1.DE. (28. August 2001) [Homepage] [
