All-New Ford Fiesta Debuts At Frankfurt
Ford Fiesta Photo: Ford FRANKFURT – Ford's fresh, new face of small-car form and function – the all-new Fiesta – will be unveiled at the 2001 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. Packaged for enjoyment, the new Fiesta concentrates on what matters most to Europe’s small-car customers. Space. Style. Safety. Value. Driving quality. And Ford hasn’t forgotten that fiesta means fun and sociability. Fiesta’s new face was revealed by David W. Thursfield, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ford of Europe, and Martin Leach, Ford of Europe’s vice president of product development.“This new Fiesta is proof of our commitment to the small-car segment and important to our business,” Thursfield said. “It’s part of what’s making our transformation in Europe so successful.” On sale early in 2002, Fiesta will be manufactured at Ford’s Cologne, Germany, small-car assembly plant and in a flexible production facility in Valencia, Spain – two of the most modern production facilities anywhere in the world. Fiesta's contemporary design incorporates Ford’s acknowledged vehicle dynamics expertise while creating a new standard for small-car driving quality. Innovations like its new Intelligent Protection System of dual-stage front air bags, similar to those fitted to the all-new Ford Mondeo, extends Fiesta’s reputation for safety, dependability and value even further. “The new Fiesta is the first in a new generation of Ford small cars,” Leach said. “It will be followed in rapid succession by three additional new Ford small car products between now and early 2003. Ford is serious about being a small car leader.” (September 4, 2001) [Homepage] [
