Toyota Integrates Asia R&D Base with Production
Support Company

TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today
that it has integrated its Asia R&D base—Toyota Technical Center Asia
Pacific (Thailand) Co. Ltd. (TTCAP-TH)—with production support company
Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. (TMAP Thailand) to establish Toyota
Motor Asia Pacific Engineering and Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TMAP-EM).

The new company will employ approx. 1.200 employees and plans to invest
1.3 billion baht. The role of the company is to
develop
and evaluate vehicles to be locally produced in Asia. Additionally the
company will provide operational support to Toyota production affiliates
in the region.
TMAP-EM aims to strengthen the operations of
Toyota production affiliates in Asia and to promote further localization
by unifying development and evaluation of locally produced vehicles with
local procurement and production operations.
TMAP-EM also aims to work closely with
Singapore-based sales support company Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Pte Ltd
(TMAP-MS*) to build an integrated structure for engineering,
manufacturing and marketing, allowing more flexibility in responding to
market changes.

Ryoichi Sasaki is to serve concurrently as president of TMAP-EM.
