Toyota Integrates Asia R&D Base with Production Support Company

TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that it has integrated its Asia R&D base—Toyota Technical Center Asia Pacific (Thailand) Co. Ltd. (TTCAP-TH)—with production support company Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. (TMAP Thailand) to establish Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Engineering and Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TMAP-EM).

The new company will employ approx. 1.200 employees and plans to invest 1.3 billion baht. The role of the company is to develop and evaluate  vehicles to be locally produced in Asia. Additionally the company will provide operational support to Toyota production affiliates in the region.

TMAP-EM aims to strengthen the operations of Toyota production affiliates in Asia and to promote further localization by unifying development and evaluation of locally produced vehicles with local procurement and production operations.

TMAP-EM also aims to work closely with Singapore-based sales support company Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (TMAP-MS*) to build an integrated structure for engineering, manufacturing and marketing, allowing more flexibility in responding to market changes.

TMC Managing Officer and TMAP-MS President Ryoichi Sasaki is to serve concurrently as president of TMAP-EM.
