John Parker Appointed As Ford's New President - Asean Operations

Bangkok, Thailand,– Ford's ASEAN Operations has announced the appointment of John Parker as president of its ASEAN Operations, effective December 1. 

Assuming the new role, Parker will be responsible for the company’s operations in the ASEAN region including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand. 

He will continue to build Ford's presence in the ASEAN region, in addition to spearhead regional integration within the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) environment. 

Parker succeeds Gerald J. Kania, who has been assigned to Ford Otosan, Turkey. For the past 2 years, Parker was heading the Ford Lio Ho operations in Taipei, Taiwan. He joined the company as a management trainee in Ford South Africa in March 1, 1965 where he held a variety of product development manufacturing, and management responsibilities before his initial assignment to Ford Lio Ho in Taiwan. Parker spent eight years in Taiwan, becoming Director, Technical Operations. 

In 1989, Parker moved to Australia where he held a series of management positions before he became Vice President, Product Development. He was then appointed as President of Ford India from 1994 to 1998. Prior to his return to Taiwan in 1999, Parker served as Director of the Millennium Program for Ford, U.S. 

Parker is a chartered engineer and a member of the British Institute of Production Engineering. Parker, a British citizen, was born in August 1947. He was educated at College of Technology, Port Elizabeth and at the University of South Africa in Pretoria.
