Paris - In the first half of 2001, Renault held on to its ranking as the leading automobile brand in France with 28% of the market. Renault, which is in a period of transition in its product cycle, took a 26.9% share of the passenger car market with four models among the six best-sellers in France, compared to two in the same period in 2000. In the LCV market, Renault also confirmed its lead position with a 34.3% market share and three of its models in the top three slots. The brand benefitted from the successful introduction of Laguna II in January and the market launch of New Clio. In June, Renault sales were up 16% compared to June 2000. Renault should further improve the attractiveness of its line-up with the marketing in July of the new Kangoo range and in the coming months of Avantime and New Trafic, the new benchmark in the compact van segment.
