- Turbo look with Carrera naturally aspirated engine: After the 911
Carrera and the 911 Targa, the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S completes the
current 911 model range. It has its world premiere at the international
car exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt and will be released on the European
market alongside the Targa from December. Like
its successful predecessor, the new Carrera 4S differs in details from the
top model 911 Turbo. Identifying features are, for example, a red lamp
strip which optically connects the rear lights and the missing Turbo rear
spoiler. As there are no charge air coolers in the engine compartment
awaiting a fresh-air supply, side air inlets typical for the Turbo are
superfluous. The running gear and the brakes correspond to those in the
Turbo. The Carrera 4S is supplied with the Tiptronic S for the first time.
The
slightly heavier load in comparison to the Carrera 4, which mainly results
from the 60 millimeter wider rear and the more powerful braking system,
only marginally affects the 320 HP sports car. The all-wheel driven
Carrera 4S requires 5.1 seconds (6-gear manual transmission) for the
acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed is 280 km/h. The
basic price (excluding VAT) is 75,000 Euros. This non-binding price
recommendation applies for all EU single currency member countries. The
VAT in the respective country is to be added to this price. The price in
Germany totals 170,156 DM (including VAT). (September
