AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Continental Teves, a unit of Continental AG, will supply Porsche with electronic chassis technology for the 2003 Cayenne, Porsche's first sport utility vehicle. Continental Teves will provide Porsche with a pair of advanced electronic technologies -- the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which Porsche will market as Porsche Stability Management, and the Electronic Air Suspension System (EAS). Continental will also supply Porsche with brake boosters and hoses. The Electronic Stability Program is designed to help drivers maintain better control of their vehicles by electronically detecting critical driving situations. The system constantly compares the driver's intended course with the vehicle's actual course and compensates for any differences. Continental's Electronic Air Suspension System balances the need to provide both optimal riding comfort and agile handling. The technology automatically adapts damping and spring characteristics, along with the vehicle's body level, to driving conditions and load changes. (Dec. 20, 2002)
