DOMESTIC PRODUCTION

Toyota: Domestic production decreased by 1.5% compared to last year to 3,118,000 units.

Daihatsu: Domestic production increased by 19.0% compared to last year to 662,000 units. This was the fourth consecutive year that the production figures exceeded those of the previous year.

Toyota + Daihatsu:

Combined domestic production was 3,780,000 units, an increase of 1.6% from last year. It was the first time in two years that the production figures exceeded those of the previous year.

DOMESTIC REGISTRATION

Toyota: Registrations of Toyota vehicles decreased by 2.7% from last year to 1,664,000 units. Toyota held a 41.7% share of the total market, excluding minivehicles. This was the second consecutive year that the Toyota share of the total market, excluding minivehicles, exceeded that of the previous year.

Daihatsu: Registrations of Daihatsu vehicles increased by 19.5% over last year to 523,000 units. It was the first time in three years that the figures exceeded those of the previous year. Of these, 507,000 were minivehicles (up 28.9% from the previous year). Daihatsu held a 27.0% share of the minivehicle market. In CY1999, both registration and market share figures achieved highest figures ever.

Toyota + Daihatsu: Combined domestic registrations totaled 2,187,000 units, up 1.8% over last year. It was the first time in three years that the registration figures exceeded those of the previous year. Combined market share, including minivehicles, was 37.3%. It was the second consecutive year that the combined market share exceeded that of the previous year.

EXPORTS

Toyota: Due to increased exports to Europe, North America, Asia and other regions, exports increased by 5.8% compared to last year to 1,548,000 units. It was the first time in two years that the export figures exceeded those of the previous year.

Daihatsu: Due to increased exports to Europe, Asia and other regions, exports increased by 2.2% compared to last year to 104,000 units. It was the first time in two years that the export figures exceeded those of the previous year.

Toyota + Daihatsu: Combined exports totaled 1,652,000 units, up 5.6% from last year. It was the first time in two years that the export figures exceeded those of the previous year.

OVERSEAS PRODUCTION

Toyota: Due to steady production in Asia, North America and other regions, overseas production increased by 9.8% over last year to 1,611,000 units. This is the eighth consecutive year that the overseas production figures exceeded those of the previous year.

Daihatsu: Due to steady production in Asia and other regions, overseas production increased by 60.0% over last year to 10,000 units. It was the first time in four years that the overseas production figures exceeded those of the previous year.

Toyota + Daihatsu: Combined overseas production was 1,622,000 units, higher by 10.0% compared to last year. This is the eighth consecutive year that the overseas production figures exceeded those of the previous year. In CY1999, overseas production figures achieved highest figures ever.
