Porsche : Fiscal year 2001/2002 (3)
According to preliminary figures, the Group sold 54,234 vehicles, down from 54,586 units in the previous year (minus 0.6 percent). 32,337 of these were from the 911 model line, sales of which rose dramatically by 21 percent. This is mainly due to strong demand for the new Carrera 4 S and Targa models and the continuing sales success of the Turbo, which sold 5,736 units (up 8.5 percent). Sales of the Boxster model line, on the other hand, went down by 21 percent from the previous year in view of the model update anticipated by the market; the Boxster S sold 10,385 units and thus represented 47.4 percent of overall Boxster sales of 21,897 units. 55,050 sports cars were produced in all, 1.3 percent below the previous year's figure (55,782 units). The share of total production accounted for by the main Zuffenhausen plant was 34,787 vehicles, 7.2 percent more than in the previous year. Sales and profits reached new record values. The Porsche Group's turnover rose by almost 10 percent to a total figure in the region of 4.8 billion Euro (up from 4.4 billion Euro in the previous year). Profit before tax rose even more steeply, with a two-digit growth rate (592.4 million Euro in the previous year). This result also benefits from the company's foreign-exchange protection strategy, which has been successful for many years. Porsche has definitely confident expectations of the current 2002/03 fiscal year. Demand for 911 and Boxster models remains positive, and in addition the start of the Cayenne launch will begin as off December 2002. The contribution made by this sport utility vehicle will ensure that Porsche's sales, turnover and profits continue to rise. October 12, 2002
