Citroën C5 Estate - An Estate Of Unique Character
Citroën C5 Estate Photo: PSA Unveiled at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, the C5 Estate will be making its market debut in most European countries in June. This new vehicle meets the needs of a rapidly expanding customer base, made up of buyers looking for a well balanced, status-enhancing, roomy car with a strong personality. Featuring the innovative architecture seen on the C5 saloon, the C5 Estate sets itself apart from the competition with a cavernous boot and an exceptionally spacious interior. The many stowage compartments and the excellent finish of the passenger compartment are further guarantees of on-board well-being. The C5 Estate ranks among the best estates in the upper-mid segment in terms of load capacity. In particular, it has one of the biggest boots in its category with a minimum volume of 563 litres. Highly convenient for daily use, the boot features a unique feature: a load sill that varies in height when the car is stationary, with the engine off. The boot is also fitted with a rear window that can be opened independently of the tailgate for easy access in all circumstances. This is clearly a true estate. The C5 Estate is an eye-catching vehicle of expressive and harmonious styling. Its strongly contemporary lines suggest generous volume and dynamic performance. With its extensive equipment and high-quality trim, the C5 Estate is clearly positioned at the top end of the market. The Citroën C5 Estate also boasts a host of innovations designed to bring new benefits to customers. In this way, it illustrates Citroën's determination to put technology to use in its vehicles. The Hydractive 3 suspension, for example, endows the C5 Estate with impeccable road manners. The vehicle is particularly well equipped to deal with the rough terrain frequently encountered by estates. The suspension system guarantees constant attitude, while ensuring that the behaviour and comfort of the vehicle are unaffected by the load level. With its multiplex electrics, the C5 Estate is able to offer a wide range of features to enhance driving pleasure. The on-board communications equipment illustrate - once more - Citroën's expertise in this area. The C5 Estate also sets superlative standards in safety, with its design, suspension and wide range of equipment, including ABS, ESP on the V6 and 2.2 HDi and six airbags. At the date of launch, the range offers three levels of trim - X, SX and Exclusive - and five engines. Two diesel engines are available, the 2.0 HDi 80 kW (110 bhp) and the 2.2 HDi 98 kW (136 bhp) with the particle filter (PF). A choice of three petrol engines is also on offer: the 2.0i 16V 100 kW (138 bhp), the 2.0 HPi 103 kW (143 bhp) and the 3.0i V6 152 kW (210 bhp). A sequentially controlled automatic gearbox is also available with the 3.0i V6, 2.0i 16V, 2.0 HDi and 2.2 HDi engines. (May 14, 2001) [Homepage] [
