BMW Reports Increase In September Sales, Monthly Sales Increase 4.4 Percent and Nine-Month Sales Increase 19 Percent WOODCLIFF LAKE, NEW JERSEY - BMW of North America, LLC reported an increase of 4.4 percent in September sales with 15,127 vehicles compared to 14,494 in the same month a year ago. The company also recorded a 19 percent increase in year-to-date sales, reporting 160,484 over the 135,257 vehicles sold in the first nine months of 2000. This marks the 36th consecutive month that BMW has surpassed its own monthly sales records. Automobile Sales BMW reported September automobile sales of 11,978 compared to 11,376 a year ago, an increase of 5.3 percent. Automobile sales in the first nine months posted an increase, too, at 131,934, up 10.2 percent over the 119,728 in the same period a year ago. Sports Activity Vehicle Sales BMW also reported September sales of 3,149 Sports Activity Vehicles, up one percent over sales of 3,118 SAVs in the same month last year. Year-to-date, BMW reported sales of 28,550 vehicles, an increase of 84 percent compared to the 15,529 reported through September of 2000. Certified Pre-owned Vehicles Sales BMW also reported its best month this calendar year for Certified Pre-owned vehicle sales, with 2,689 units in September, down 24 percent from 3,530 in September 2000. Year to date, Certified Pre-Owned BMW sales total 28,872 units, down 17 percent from the 34,835 units sold in the same period last year.
