BMW 3 Series And 5 Series Ranked Near Top In Customer Satisfaction Based On The Ultimate Car Book's Complaint Index BMW 5 Series Photo: BMW Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey - The BMW 3 Series and 5 Series cars were ranked 2nd and 3rd, respectively, for customer satisfaction among all cars and trucks in the Complaint Index in The Ultimate Car Book, 2002 edition (HarperCollins), by Jack Gillis. THE ULTIMATE CAR BOOK's complaint index is a result of an analysis of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) complaints on file relative to the number of each model produced. The 2002 Gillis Complaint Index ranges from 3 to 7204 per car. The BMW 3 Series posted a Gillis Complaint Index of only 29 while the 5 Series posted just 66. The BMW 3 Series and 5 Series both saw strong sales growth in 2001. Both Series are perennially ranked in Car and Driver's "10 Best Awards" as well as Automobile Magazine's "All Stars" list, due to their outstanding driving characteristics and performance. Combined with the reliability and quality demonstrated by their ranking in the Gillis Complaint Index, both the 3 Series and 5 Series represent outstanding value. (March 5, 2002) [Homepage] [
