Mazda Names Robert B. Mercer Vice President, General Counsel

IRVINE, Calif. -Charles Hughes, president and CEO for Mazda North American Operations, recently announced the appointment of Robert B. Mercer as vice president, general counsel for MNAO. For the last 22 years Mercer was with Volvo Cars of North America where he served as senior vice president of government and industry relations and general counsel.

Mercer is also involved in numerous charitable and civic endeavors, including serving on the National Board of Advisors for the Duke University Children's Medical Center, and will become its chairman in May 2003. A 1973 graduate of Duke University, Mercer earned his Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1976.
