Beijing, P.R. China - On the occasion of today's Mercedes-Benz press conference at Auto China, Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Mercedes Car Group, Sales and Marketing, handed over crystal-made keys to the first two Maybach owners in China. "From today on, Maybach 62 and Maybach 57 will officially come into the mainland China market," Dr. Schmidt said. "Later this year Maybach Showrooms will be set up in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou." The economy of mainland China has shown dynamic growth since China's entry into the WTO. As a result, China is one of the key markets for Maybach in Asia. Hong Kong, as an important window into mainland China, was chosen as starting point to establish the first Maybach Center in Asia last year. In 2004 further Maybach Showrooms will be opened in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. "Maybach represents leading-edge technology and superior performance combined with the ultimate in exclusivity and quality. These are the core attributes upon which the new Maybach bases its claim of being the world's finest prestige sedan," said Dr. Schmidt. (June 09, 2004)
