In addition to serving as plant director, Dr. Jürgen Böhm was a member in various associations. He worked on the board of the Hamburg Industrial Association, was a member of Nordmetall and the Harburg Business Association, and was also a plenary member of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Through his involvement in Star Care Hamburg, Böhm also engaged himself in social issues. Werner Schalow joined DaimlerChrysler in 1979. Since then he has held various specialist and management positions at the Hamburg plant, most recently as Head of the Production Center for Chassis, where he was responsible for the development and production of axles. Hamburg plant The Hamburg-Harburg plant specializes in the production of axles and steering columns, in addition to system elements including pedal units, gearshifts and parking brakes. In the production of these components, the Hamburg plant also employs pioneering development and manufacturing technologies, such as hydroforming and laser welding. The refinement of these technologies and the entire process chain — from concept testing to series production — are carried out here in ultramodern production areas.
