BMW: The MINI Manager

Trevor Houghton-Berry has been appointed General Manager, MINI for the UK and will lead the team which will launch this exciting new model in summer 2001.

Houghton-Berry, 39, joined BMW (GB) Limited in June from Rover, where he was Corporate Sales Manager, following roles with both Mazda and Citroen.  He is building an entirely separate team within BMW GB, dedicated to marketing and selling MINI as an individual brand within the BMW Group.

Trevor Houghton-Berry"

It is a tremendous privilege to work with such a fantastic brand as MINI and with this great new model," said Houghton-Berry.  "My team and I are totally committed to making it the success it deserves to be when it goes on sale next year."

The MINI COOPER will debut at the Paris Motorshow on 28 September 2000 and make its first UK appearance at the Birmingham Motorshow on 17 October.  It will go on sale next summer.

MINI will be built in Oxford and distributed through BMW's dealer network in the UK, although each location will have a unique environment for MINI to emphasise that it is an entirely separate brand.  This could be a separate showroom on the same site or elsewhere in the vicinity - perhaps even on a High Street.  Equally it could be a showroom within a showroom on the BMW premises.

A MINI public relations appointment will be made in the next month.  Working closely with the MINI team, this new role will report to Graham Biggs, Media Relations Manager for BMW GB.
