Alan C. Johnson Returns to Federal-Mogul as Executive Vice President, Americas and Asia

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Dick Snell, chairman and chief executive officer, Federal-Mogul Corporation announces the return of Alan C. Johnson, 52, to the new position of executive vice president, Americas and Asia, effective immediately. In this new expanded role, Johnson will have responsibility for all of the company's original equipment and aftermarket operations in North America, South America and Asia, with sales of over $4 billion.

Johnson, a 30-year veteran with Federal-Mogul, had left in 1999 to become president and chief operating officer of Exide Corporation. "Alan is one of the most highly respected executives in the industry," said Snell. "His leadership and wealth of experience is exemplary and we are pleased he is returning to the Federal-Mogul family."

Johnson joined Federal-Mogul in 1970 and most recently held the position of executive vice president - Powertrain Systems. Previously he served as executive vice president responsible for the company's worldwide manufacturing and international aftermarket operations, a position he held since January 1997. Johnson served as president - operations, from 1995 - 1997 and vice president, Powertrain Operations - Americas, from 1993 - 1995. Johnson was named vice president and general manager, oil seal operations in 1992, and prior to that served in management roles in both manufacturing and distribution.

Johnson earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan. Johnson is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
