DETROIT
- The 2002 GMC Envoy is a professional grade, sport utility vehicle
that sets a new standard of sophistication and performance by
delivering new levels of comfort, convenience and capability that are
totally unexpected in a midsize SUV.
“The
GMC Envoy is purposefully engineered – as only a professional grade
product can be – to provide both driver and passengers with comfort
and capabilities that far exceed the expectations of even the most
demanding tastes,” said Tony DiSalle, GMC Envoy brand manager.
“What
we’ve heard from customers is they desire an SUV that can handle
anything without comprising interior roominess and comfort. The new
Envoy finally gives customers what they’re looking for – an SUV
with unmatched performance that is also surprisingly comfortable,”
DiSalle said.
The
four-door 2002 Envoy features an all-new engine with best-in-class
power and efficiency, smooth ride, easy handling, interior versatility
and spaciousness, and superior safety characteristics, including
dual-level airbags for driver and front-seat passenger. It’s due in
dealer show rooms in the first quarter 2001.
Even
Envoy’s design is refined and expressive. “It is both functional
and beautiful to look at because the design is so logical and
precise,” said DiSalle.
Design
cues include large vertically oriented headlamps, beveled tail lamps
with an angular, precise appearance, and strong, beveled shapes
reflecting GMC’s bold, trapezoid-shaped shield in the center grille
area as well as center belt line and wheel openings, which distinguish
the sides.
The
interior is purposefully designed to give driver and passengers a
sense of control over their surroundings – open and accessible but
still distinctly their own, personal space. The instrument panel and
console establish this theme by creating spaces, which are accessible,
yet clearly defined cockpits for driver and passenger.
Envoy’s
“best-in-class” comfort combined with GMC professional-grade
performance rests on three pillars of excellence, said DiSalle:
-
Interior
roominess and thoughtful design for greater driver and passenger
comfort;
-
Full
complement of comfort features and amenities;
-
Exceptionally
smooth, comfortable ride, no matter the road conditions.
The
2002 Envoy, part of a new family of midsize SUVs from General Motors,
exemplifies GMC’s 100-year tradition of imagination and experience
in unique, innovative products and designs. “It has been completely
reengineered to set a new, world standard for sophisticated
performance in the midsize SUV market,” said DiSalle.
