BMW Oxford Plant : Quality and Engineering Center (QEC) QUALITY AND ENGINEERING CENTER: The MINI is not subject to special quality standards - as a core BMW Group brand and product, both the car and the way it is manufactured meet the BMW Group corporate quality targets applied to all products and processes throughout the company.
Yet the special circumstances of producing the next generation of a motoring icon within the BMW Group family led to a new development which puts the quality function at the heart of the manufacturing process, bringing together, on the manufacturing site, the supporting resources, such as design, engineering, external suppliers, logistics service and the dealer network within the framework of the Quality and Engineering Centre (QEC).
As an example of continuous quality improvement QZ also carries a special measure, QZK, with the K standing for the customer and placing emphasis on satisfying customers' expectations as well as technical quality targets. As well as providing a physical location for the multi-functional team working described above, the QEC will also have up to date design areas, development facilities, test rigs, workshops, laboratories and metrology facilities.
