The F2001, the car which will defend Ferrari colors in the
Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships this year, saw
the light of day yesterday morning in the large marquee erected
at the Fiorano track. Taking part in the presentation
were Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo, Sporting Director
Jean Todt, Technical Director Ross
Brawn, Engine Director Paolo Martinelli, designer Rory Byrne
and the three drivers: world champion Michael Schumacher, Rubens
Barrichello and Luca Badoer. Guest of honor were Paolo Fresco
and Paolo Cantarella, respectively the President and Managing
Director of the Fiat Group.
Forming a living tableau at the launch of the first
Ferrari of the third millennium were the fans of the Scuderia. Around
700 members of the Ferrari World Club and Ferrari Clubs from all over
Italy, were arranged in the grandstands to make up the name of the car,
but more than that, their enthusiastic applause provided the soundtrack
to the most important moments of the ceremony.
